Decision made, It is going to be a 2 part test
Latest MOTORCYCLE TEST changes by the government.

So the DSA and Government have U turned and finally made a
sensible decision regards the new test. TWICE! The New Motorcycle Test was going to be 30 March 2009, it will now be 27 April 2009.
A decision was made in late February 09 to make the new test 2 parts an off road element and an on road pursuit test similar to the current one.
Some good news is that the current test centres of Bradford and Leeds will remain open to conduct module 2 the on road part. Frequency and days of operation may change. The module 1 off road exercise will be conducted at an MPTC or a temporary site. There are two temporary sites, Cleckheaton and Patrick Green, Lofthouse. These are the closest for this area. This is about to change in early 2010 as the DSA are building a MPTC for Leeds at South Wakefield. The effect of this is that it will close the temporary sites. The fees have now increased to over £90 for tests and £31 for the theory. If you click on the read more link it takes you to the DSA's web site where information on the format of the new test can be found. |
The Government have ignored all the pleas of the biking industry and will
allow European legislation to decide our driving test rules.
The new bike test will come into effect in April 2009.
The Motorcycle test fee has risen 30% from £60 to £80. It is set to rise again to £90.50 plus the Theory test is also going UP UP UP!
For the future the government have also allowed the 3rd European directive
to pass unchallenged into Uk law. This is likely to raise the DAS age to
24 or 26 years and there will be a number of restrictions imposed on the size
and power of what you can ride. Plus younger learners will need to pass a series
of tests to get a full license. Believe us this is happening and no amount of outcry will
stop this government or the DSA imposing European testing rules on us!
So the message is GET THAT LICENCE NOW BEFORE ANYMORE DRACONIAN MEASURES ARE IMPOSED!
The new Motorcycle test, fundamently flawed?
"Is it safe?" Not only a memorable line from the Marathon Man! Well is it? If so who checked it, where is the report?
I must admit to getting a bit boiling hot under the collar about the new test and now the 3rd directive but as it has a distinct possibility of dramatically affecting my business I feel I have every right to question everything about it. There have been 4 training schools close in the last 12 months in this area. So if you are bored I have posted a series of articles I have written on the subject. The DSA chief Rosemary Thew has to face a ministerial inquiry into the new test. Read on.
